Our founder, journalist Kelly Hagy, grew up in rural Western Kentucky, where storytelling was part of life. One day she decided to write a book about the late country singer Johnny Horton after finding conflicting information about him online. Eight years later, Finding Johnny Horton was released, and Good Personality Girl Publishing LLC was born!

At Good Personality Girl, we're passionate about preserving the rich history of rural communities and ensuring important stories aren’t lost to time. We shine a light on unsolved mysteries to keep hope alive and love discovering unique rural voices who bring fresh, entertaining fiction and nonfiction to life.

The name Good Personality Girl isn't about vanity. It's a reminder that if people label you—not talented, experienced, or pretty, but with 'a good personality'—you have a right to define who you are, follow your own path, and believe in the gifts God has given you.
